Introduction
The Intro Message is a critical component in your GoHighLevel (GHL) and ZappyChat setup. It serves two main purposes: initiating a conversation with the contact and providing context to the AI about what was communicated. This guide will explain what the intro message is, its role in outbound interactions, and the importance of setting it correctly in both the "Message" option and the "Intro Message" custom field within your workflow.
What is the Intro Message?
The Intro Message is the initial communication sent to a contact, often used in scenarios where your business initiates the conversation (outbound interactions). It could be an announcement about a new product, a special promotion, or any other relevant information you want to convey to your contacts.
- Purpose: The intro message introduces the topic or purpose of the interaction, setting the stage for the conversation. It’s the first point of contact in an automated workflow, ensuring that your contacts are informed about the reason for the outreach.
- Example: For a product launch, the intro message might say: “We’re excited to introduce our latest product! Respond to this message to learn more or ask any questions.”
The Dual Role of the Intro Message
When setting up the intro message, it's essential to configure it in two specific places within the workflow:
- Message Option:
- Purpose: This is where you set the actual message that will be sent to your contact. It’s the outward-facing communication that your contact receives.
- Example: “We’re excited to introduce our latest product! Respond to this message to learn more or ask any questions.”
- Intro Message Custom Field:
- Purpose: This field is where you input the same exact message, but this time, it’s for the AI’s reference. This allows the AI to understand the context of the conversation and recognize what was sent to the contact.
- Why It’s Important: By matching the message in the "Intro Message" custom field with the one in the "Message" option, you ensure that the AI is fully aware of the conversation's starting point. This is crucial for the AI to maintain continuity and relevance in its responses.
Importance of Matching the Messages
To achieve a smooth and effective conversation flow, it’s vital that the message sent to the contact and the one logged for the AI are identical. Here’s why:
- Context for the AI: The AI relies on the "Intro Message" custom field to understand what was communicated to the contact. If this field matches the message that was actually sent, the AI can accurately follow up on the conversation, ensuring that its responses are relevant and on-topic.
- Consistency in Communication: Consistency between these two fields prevents errors and confusion. If the messages don’t match, the AI might not correctly recognize the context, leading to disjointed or irrelevant responses.
How to Set the Intro Message Correctly
- Set the Message in the Workflow:
- Go to the workflow where you want to initiate the conversation.
- In the "Message" option, input the message that will be sent to the contact. For instance: “We’re excited to introduce our latest product! Respond to this message to learn more or ask any questions.”
- Set the Same Message in the "Intro Message" Custom Field:
- In the same workflow, create an action named "Update Contact Field", set Intro Message and paste that message in this action.
- Enter the exact same message: “We’re excited to introduce our latest product! Respond to this message to learn more or ask any questions.”
- Verify Both Fields Match:
